Stainless steel deep groove ball bearings are rolling-element bearings made from corrosion-resistant stainless steel (typically grade 440C or 304/316), designed with deep, uninterrupted raceway grooves that allow them to handle both radial and moderate axial loads in a single component. They're used wherever standard chrome steel bearings would rust or fail — in food processing, marine equipment, medical devices, and washdown environments. Compared to standard bearings, stainless steel versions typically cost 2 to 4 times more but can last significantly longer in wet or corrosive conditions where a standard bearing might fail within months.

A deep groove ball bearing consists of an inner ring, outer ring, a set of steel balls, and a cage that keeps the balls evenly spaced. The "deep groove" refers to the raceway design — the grooves in both rings are deeper than the ball radius, which lets the bearing support loads from multiple directions rather than just straight-line radial force.
Because the groove is deep enough to cradle the ball on both sides, this design handles combined radial and axial (thrust) loads without needing a separate thrust bearing. This is why deep groove ball bearings are the most widely used bearing type across nearly every industry — they're versatile enough for most general-purpose rotating applications.
Standard bearings are made from chrome steel (such as 52100), which offers excellent hardness but rusts quickly when exposed to moisture, washdown chemicals, or humid air. Stainless steel bearings solve this by using alloys with added chromium content that forms a passive oxide layer, resisting corrosion even in wet or chemically aggressive environments.
